Research on community-led habitat regeneration, self-building, remaking techniques, and social learning and cohesion
Both community and STUDIO POP will mutually gain by exploring the causes, processes, and solutions in a particular place regarding regeneration, self-building, remaking techniques, and/or social learning and cohesion in order to share innovative tools and methods for strengthening the quality of ecologic housing design, productive cultural landscapes, adaptive urban planning and alternatives technologies applied in our habitats, public spaces and dwellings. The community will benefit by conducting participatory trans-disciplinary and community-based approaches including social sciences and humanities in the co-designing, co-development and co-implementation of the solutions. Research can also involve further alliances with universities, industry, beneficiary communities and other stakeholders. Research actions should also address nature-based and ecological solutions for inclusive habitat regeneration, including the regeneration and remediation of deprived districts, vacant lands or abandoned areas.
The role of social innovation, and hence the participation of social sciences and humanities disciplines such as urbanism, economics, sociology, geography, landscape, architecture or design studies, is particularly important to properly address these complex challenges.
