We are glad to invite you to 'I AM TRASH' exhibition curated by Laura Petruskeviciute at STUDIO POP. Exhibition will be open from 8-16 June in CASS ART Glasgow, 63-67 Queen St, Glasgow G1 3BZ.
‘I AM TRASH’ invites viewers to experience and discover two different realities of contrasting principles: consumption and trash versus trash art, trash design and trash beauty.
Plastic bags become a main medium to create eco design products. We use plastic trash like paints to create canvases or like medium to create durable plastic textiles for REPLASTICO2 accessories.
Plastic is forever. Normally it takes from 10-1000 years to decompose plastic bag. That means that all shopping plastic bags are still around since it was created in 1960’s…
Plastic bag pollution is a real problem damaging ecosystems and consuming natural resources. An average 5 shopping bags have a footprint of 1kg of CO2!!! For comparison, working with laptop/computer for 4 hours would emit similar amount of CO2.
Having in mind, that there are 160,000 bags consumed every second worldwide and only 1% is recycled is really striking and calls for ACTION. We transform plastic trash into unique hand crafted products, which offset CO2 emission. By doing this, we are creating social platform and eco factory, that is committed to reduce plastic waste with creativity. You can support creative circular economies by purchasing plastic art canvas or accessories from exhibition. Please contact for more details.
STUDIO POP is glad to take part in Glasgow Science Festival and collaborate with Glasgow Caledonian University which leads - ‘Glasgow imagines’: Consumer trends in fashion and lifestyles - sustainability, gender neutral, social media.
Special thanks for everyone who contributed with plastic bags trash towards this exhibition and REPLASTICO2 project.
